VANS Fashion Show

Last October 29, 2011, The Vans PFW 2011 was held at the Mall Of Asia (at the atrium) and I am proud to say that I was part of this historic event since it was the first ever vans fashion show in Manila!

"THE"
I decided to be at the venue early so that I can observe how people prepare and checkout the ramp that everyone was just talking about. It was just one heck of a ramp, it wasn't the usual ramps you see in fashion shows. It was a ramp that models can really strut their vans look and at the same time the vans riders can do tricks and have fun. It was like an obstacle course and it was one rockin' ramp!

The graffiti walls were also up courtesy of the the group "THE" (a group that really leans to street culture)  they displayed markings that appeared in different forms and elaborate wall images. It was so impressive and very creative, it was just really lovely to look at. the guys are just so talented that they really have created a wonderful art. The group THE really made the whole set POP. the images they have created was really perfect for the VANS fashion show. BRAVO

The girl on the upper  right is the sister

part of the hair and make up team!
The Production staff was also so kind and very accommodating they made sure everyone was okay and that everyone will really look their best. They were all out! they were really making sure that everything is prefect,  they constantly check if the models are set to strut and made sure that the riders are all set to ride and work the ramp. The hair and make up team was also fabulous! every single model really looked hot and sexy. The stylists on the other hand were busy fitting and fixing all the looks (Hello Kitty, Girls Line, OTW and Core). The girls all looked stunning with their outfits! Vans girls are just the best.  Brent Javier was the stylist for all the guys and he was one of the models as well. I must say all the guys should just start wearing VANS  (nakakadagdag pogi points lang haha)  The stylists really presented all the looks perfectly! every looked screamed VANS.

Celebrities like Bea Binene, Mayton Eugenio, Diva Montelaba, Daiana Menezes, Kista Kleiner, Jhong Hilaro, and the Montero family (Troy Monetro, Aubrey Miles and the star of the show, the super cute Hunter Montero) were all present. They worked the runway and people were just really happy to see all of them. We were all there to support our VANS fam bam!

The looks, clothes and shoes that vans showed at the the fashion show were just awesome! this event was really one for the books. :) I am really proud to be part of the Vans and HD family! CONGRATULATIONS VANS for a really successful show!

Invites

Yesterday, I Tweeted “nangugulo sa isang concept store..hihi making people smile habang nakikitambay ako :)” the concept store I was talking about was that of VANS located at Glorietta 3. This was the day I was going to give out the invites to those who joined and won the tweet me why you deserve to watch the vans fashion show. I personally emailed the winners that they should be there at 2.30pm to claim their invites and guess what, I think I was really excited to give it to them that I was in the store 2 hours early kaya tumamabay muna ako doon at nakigulo. I kinda observed how the employees work and how they run the store. I also tried some stuffs and I must say I fell in love with the Yo Gabba Gabba slip ons, that I immediately got a pair! (you guys should check em' out and get a pair na din super cute! )

I  must say that the Vans concept store in glorietta has the nicest employees! they are all very accommodating and they all had smiles on their faces and not to mention they laughed at my jokes! Haha I  was taking pictures of them, making chika and all but don’t get me wrong they were still focused on what they were doing, I was just really making kulit. I was so impressed by them that I bought them boxes of Krispy Kreme. They were all just so hard working and they all just have this really positive attitude! A successful business starts with good employees who then attract good customers.

It was 2.30pm and the winners started  to arrive. All of them was so kind and so adorable! It was really a good choice that I was the one who personally gave the invites to the winners because seeing them smile and excited is just priceless.  I really love making people smile and I guess this little way that I did made them happy. :)

Ecka, one of the winners gave me a really cute
gift! super thank you!

As I've said in my previous blog, I really want  to share this historic moment with other people and give them a chance to have this kind of experience! See you guys at the first ever VANS fashion show on October 29!

In the moment

Tired from dance rehearsals, got stuck in traffic (syempre sa EDSA), forgot to do some errands for my mom and to top that all of  I wasn't feeling very well because of my bad colds. I guess it wasn't a perfect day for me. After spending hours, I finally arrived home and I just wanted to hug my bed.. pero hindi ako mapakali. so I decided to turn my iPad on, plugged in my beats and started to listen to music.

Urbandub's first of summer was the first song I was listening to. I remember when I was in High School, Urbandub had a concert in our school and everyone just went wild! and when this song played everyone just started singing along with it. Me and my friends really felt this song, feeling namin mga singers kami pag kinkaanta namin toh. We all had smiles on our faces  and we were just having a great time. good times.

"We're living it up Make this night ours,We own the world I wish this lasts forever"

While i was listening to different songs from different local rock bands like kamikazee (everyone loves their songs, I don't even have to describe them) and Save Me Hollywood, a new formed band (you guys better check their music its pretty awesome) I was checking  my photos in my iPad and something triggered me to do something. I guess the music I was listening to placed me in a spot to be creative and helped my imagination reach a certain extent.

No notion is required to enjoy good music, and to enjoy creating something like this. :)

Music inspires, motivates and let people get in touch with their

emotions in a way that is distinct.

Music puts life into this world.

Music is LOVE.

Music adds excitement to this world.

My inspiration for this was Team Manila's RIZAL. I Love listening to music that was created by Filipinos.

Music touches our soul, and allows us to express different moods and emotions. And seriously, life without music would be, well, boring. - T.Nair

Street/Action Sports

Since I'm curious about the streets, I wanted to know different aspects that the streets can offer but I did not want to just learn about everything in one sitting. I wanted to touch each topic that appealed to me one by one so that I can understand how all aspects mold together. I think this is one mistake that some people make, they get too excited at something and just want to know everything in a rush and ends up well, knowing nothing to the point that they loose interest since they didn't take the time to learn about every single drop of juice that the main topic had. (natuto na kasi ako hehe) So now i decided to focus on "street SPORTS" "action sports"

I searched and found out that the roots of street sport is skateboarding. Skateboarding is an action sport which involves riding and creating various tricks using a skate board. - one meaning that is really easy to understand, but I think there's more to it, as I watched some videos on youtube I noticed that this sport is really about creativity and freedom wherein the riders can really play and create tricks that can give them the feeling of fulfillment and excitement which for me can really be contagious, that the feeling can actually  be passed on to their fellow riders and to the people who watch them on the streets

activities like long boarding, surfing, and motor cross are also known as part of action sports and has the same deeper description of skateboarding but I am aware that these are all different sports, and are unique in their own ways and every rider just have their own drive and core.

"Street sports are an expression of the spontaneous, improvisational and creative humans"

This video of Michael and Kevin Castillo really appealed to me, they were really having fun and very care free. It showed how they really enjoyed skateboarding (Kevin) and long boarding (Michael). I felt like they were just living the moment and capturing every move they make with their boards I wish I could have a nice and interesting conversation with them and just uncover what they really felt.. (try to finish the video so that you'll know what I mean)

In general, I want to know the experiences of different spontaneous, improvisational,  and creative riders. I wan to listen to them, watch them, and learn how the work the "streets". They just seem to have fun in so many different flavors!

I also know that VANS helps out some riders here in the Philippines and makes sure that they stay creative and spontaneous. They keep their riders minds off the wall.

I can say that these are the people who wears VANS all day, all night! *represent!

Will have a little adventure and will interview some people who falls into this category so you guys better watch out for that! :D

*Try reading the things i wrote towards the end with the music of the video. :) FEEL GOOD MUSIC!

New Found Interest

"A common movement, with artwork for everyone"

When i was busy clicking and clicking on links, googling random words, and checking out images (the cause of boredom - i know you guys do this too!) I encountered this statement and my mind just started to roll and basically just wanted to understand what it really meant.

NOW..  I am really curios about the "streets". I'm curious about the fashion, music, and its action sports. Well, I just want to get into its CULTURE.

"Street Wear is YOUTH"
According to wikipedia (the site where students gather some information for their home work or research haha) Street wear is youth,  I guess Street wear can also be for the young at heart - just a thought.

This is just a start, I really want to go deeper and find out what its all about. :)

One for the books.

One objective that was set for me by HD Fashion Inc. was for me to learn how to be hands on and fortunately the VP of Marketing wanted me to help and participate on the upcoming event of one of their major brand which is VANS. I got to observe in the stylists meeting, got to be a part of the go-see process and actually was given a chance to score and choose the models who will be part of the fashion show. Honestly, I was overawed on how they really treat me as one of their "co-workers" ang sarap lang ng feeling na suportado ka ng mga tao sa paligid mo at yung masaya ka sa trabaho mo at sa mga gingawa mo. It has just been days,  but I am learning numerous things already. I love to be surrounded with people who are really hard working and very goal driven, they really can influence you in so many good ways and I believe that the people we surround ourselves with will really define who we become.

These past few days has been very busy for the VANS team, preparing for the much awaited first ever fashion show of VANS that will be part of the Philippine Fashion Week. Believe me the show will be one heck of a show, the styles will definitely be OFF THE WALL and of course the shoes will be rockin' the runway! I am so excited for this event and to essentially be part of VANS history is simply awesome.

I was so happy and excited that I asked the team if I can have invites so that I can share my excitement with other people and they gladly gave me twenty. I want to share this moment with other people and give them a chance to have this kind of experience but I basically don't want to give my 20 precious invites to random people and just say "hey watch"  so i decided to post a question on twitter  "Why do you deserve to attend and watch the first ever VANS fashion show?" and the top 20 tweets will be the lucky recipient of my invites. I got a lot of nice answers but only 20 was chosen!

    Create one!

I found this at the last page of my notebook (I just edited it so it can actually capture your attention)

I guess i was really determined to write down and think about my goals in life. Its not written in a presentable way but the thought was there. Its fun to write down things you want in your life, there's no harm in creating something like this. It can really make you think on what you want to happen in your future at the same time you can be creative! sounds childish? well for me..i dont think so!

Every time I create something like this, It always refreshes my mind. It makes me want to move forward and actually achieve everything I wrote down just like a check list. :)

Set your goals and determine what you really want to accomplish and I might just give you a prize by just simply creating and starting your own creative "checklist"!

    send it to me! :D

"If you aim at nothing, You're sure to get nothing"

It's official! I am now part of a retail company called HD fashions Inc. and I am overwhelmed on how warm they have welcomed me to their company. Its nice to know that they actually have something planned for me, something that I can really put my marketing skills to a test.

"You will learn how to keep it real, how to work fast and how to be productive and practical" - Wendell

Well, this will be a tough one because next semester I'll be a student/ actress / performer / intern. I have to balance all those things, manage my time, and juggle those activities properly. It will definitely be hard and tiring but I have prepared myself by setting my priorities straight and consistent with my personal goals.

Always maintain a positive attitude and make every hour count to be successful! :)

    Wednesday, October 12

    ....

I’m a graduating student and the only thing left for me is my on the job training and a few classes. Imagining myself wearing my toga and holding my diploma does really give me the chills. The thought of finishing all those requirements is such a big achievement for me, but before everything else I have to complete my 400 hours internship.

For my internship I expect challenges and responsibilities that can help hone my marketing skills but hearing some experiences from other students makes me worry. Fetching coffee, making copies of papers, cleaning the desks are some activities they have done for the span of their internship It’s very disappointing to hear right? I can comply with those activities but to just do those tasks for the rest of my internship is not something I want to happen to me. I want to feel that I am an actual part of the company and that I can essentially contribute something to the company’s growth even as an intern.

I know that they will give me a task that is catered to the lowest position they have in their business and Yes, I am willing to do and accomplish that task because I know that people should really start at the lowest point and work hard for every step they take to reach the top but I hope that in the hours of my internship they will give me tasks that I could actually feel that I am going up the ranks even if I am just an intern.

I am always by the book, all about the notes I have in school,  always about the lessons we have tackled in class and now I think it’s the perfect time for me to learn how the real world works, how the business world move forward.  I want exposure to prominent or high-ranking officials maybe through small get-together, departmental meeting and other activities.  I want to observe and really uncover how they bring their company to a success. This time I want to jot down notes from personal experiences and from the lessons I will learn from the internship I will have in an actual company.

I want to invest myself in something that is meaningful and that can really help not only my future but also my personal growth.

Achievement is what you do best, so take the opportunity to do it. Fill your days with achievement, and give yourself the meaning and fulfillment you desire and deserve – C. Heller
